9 Days Photography Safari – Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. Take time to relax and recover from your trip. In the evening, you'll meet your photography guide for a pre-safari briefing about the upcoming photography adventure, discussing equipment, expectations, and the incredible opportunities that await. Enjoy dinner and overnight at your comfortable hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel, depart from Arusha for Tarangire National Park. Known for its massive baobab trees and large elephant populations, Tarangire offers fantastic year-round photography opportunities. Spend the day on game drives in our photo-focused vehicle, capturing elephants against the iconic baobab backdrop, searching for lions, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species. The Tarangire River is a key attraction, drawing thirsty animals during the dry season. In the late afternoon, exit the park and drive to your comfortable lodge located nearby for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on the trip to the legendary Serengeti. The drive passes through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering stunning views of the crater from a distance. Arrive in the central Seronera region by midday. This area is rich in wildlife due to its permanent rivers and offers exceptional photography opportunities. After lunch at your lodge, head out for an afternoon game drive across the iconic Serengeti plains in your photo-equipped vehicle. Look for predators like lions and cheetahs, vast herds of herbivores, and stunning landscapes bathed in golden light. Return to your comfortable lodge for dinner and overnight.

Rise early for a sunrise game drive when predators are most active and the light is at its most beautiful. Witness the Serengeti coming to life as the sun paints the savannah in golden hues. Your photography guide will position the vehicle for optimal angles and lighting. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, then head out again for a full day of photography. The Seronera Valley is known for its high concentration of wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, and vast herds of zebras and wildebeests. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing your afternoon photography session as the light softens. Return to your lodge as the sun sets.

Another full day dedicated to capturing the wonders of the Serengeti. Today you might venture to different areas of the central region, perhaps visiting the Seronera River valley or exploring the kopjes (rock outcroppings) that dot the landscape. These rocky areas are favorite haunts for lions and leopards and offer dramatic compositional elements. Your photography guide will tailor the day based on wildlife movements, lighting conditions, and your specific interests. The photo-focused vehicle allows for quick repositioning and stable platforms for long lenses. Return to your lodge for dinner and image review.

Your third full day in the Serengeti offers another opportunity to capture this iconic ecosystem. Today's focus might be on different species or behaviors you haven't yet photographed. The central Serengeti offers exceptional wildlife photography year-round, with excellent chances to capture all members of the Big Five. Your guide will help you anticipate animal behavior and position the vehicle for the best possible images. Enjoy a final day of immersive photography, soaking in the vast landscapes and incredible biodiversity. Return to your lodge for a farewell dinner and image sharing.

Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Serengeti to catch predators at their most active and capture the beautiful morning light. After breakfast, begin your transfer towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive offers continued photography opportunities as you pass through different habitats. En route, you may choose to visit a Maasai village for cultural photography (optional extra cost). Arrive at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater in the afternoon and check into your lodge. The views from the crater rim are spectacular and offer wonderful landscape photography opportunities as the sun sets over the caldera. Enjoy dinner and overnight at your comfortable lodge.

Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a full day of incredible wildlife photography in what is often called "Africa's Eden." The crater is home to a high density of animals, including the Big Five, and offers excellent chances to photograph the rare black rhino. The crater's varied habitats—from grassland to acacia woodland, freshwater lakes to swamps—provide diverse backdrops for your images. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, where you can photograph hippos at close range. Spend the day moving with the light, capturing the crater's wildlife against stunning volcanic caldera walls. Ascend in the late afternoon and return to your lodge.

After breakfast, descend from the crater rim and depart for Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions, massive flocks of flamingos, and diverse birdlife. The park offers a variety of habitats from groundwater forests to the alkaline lake itself, providing unique photography opportunities. Enjoy a morning game drive through this compact but beautiful park, capturing elephants, hippos, giraffes, and the famous Manyara tree-climbing lions against the backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment. The shallow lake often hosts thousands of flamingos, creating stunning pink horizons. After lunch, begin your trip back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel for a farewell dinner and overnight.
