The 5-day Serengeti migration safari is designed for travellers who want to spend their holiday time inside the Serengeti instead of using long days to drive from one destination to another. Your trip begins with a scheduled morning flight from Zanzibar or Arusha to Seronera Airstrip, where your private guide will be waiting to welcome you and begin the safari.
After landing at Seronera, usually during the morning, you will receive a short safari briefing and start your first game drive in Central Serengeti. There is no need to return to town or wait for the next day. Your picnic lunch travels with you, allowing the Serengeti Great Migration tour to begin as soon as you enter your private 4x4 safari vehicle.
Scheduled flight time is generally around 1 hour 10 minutes to 2 hours from Arusha and approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours from Zanzibar. The final duration depends on the airline, departure time and any intermediate airstrip stops. Exact timings will be shown on your confirmed ticket.
This route includes one night at Baobab Central Serengeti Camp and three nights at Baobab Mara Luxury Camp in Northern Serengeti, or carefully selected alternatives when availability changes. On the second day, your game drive continues north through the Serengeti toward Kogatende, giving you wildlife viewing along the trip rather than treating the transfer as an ordinary road trip.
July through October is normally the strongest period for this Kogatende migration safari. After moving through the Western Corridor and Grumeti area during May and June, vast herds may continue toward the northern plains and the Mara River. Wildebeest are often joined by zebras, gazelles and other plains animals, while lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and crocodiles follow the seasonal concentration of prey.

How You Will Meet Our Guide at Seronera Airstrip
Many guests booking a Serengeti safari from Arusha or Zanzibar ask how they will find their guide after landing inside the national park. There is no need to worry. Your assigned safari guide will travel to the Serengeti in advance and will be waiting outside the Seronera Airstrip arrival area.
The guide will hold a sign displaying your name and the Miona Tanzania Safari name. After greeting you and helping with your luggage, the guide will explain the day’s plan, introduce the safari vehicle and provide a short safety briefing before beginning your first private game drive.
This meeting arrangement is confirmed before your flight, and our operations team remains in communication with the guide and airline so that any schedule update can be handled properly.
