10-Day Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Beach Holiday

7 days exploring Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater, then fly direct from central Serengeti to Zanzibar for 3 days of beach bliss. The ultimate safari and beach combination.

Your 10-Day Safari & Beach Itinerary

Seven days exploring Tanzania's most iconic wildlife destinations, then a direct flight from central Serengeti to Zanzibar for three days of beach relaxation.

Day 1

Arrival in Arusha – Gateway to the North

Your Tanzania adventure begins the moment you touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Our representative will be waiting beyond customs, holding a sign with your name. The drive to Arusha takes you through vibrant Tanzanian countryside – banana plantations, small villages, and the silhouette of Mount Meru. Your hotel for tonight is a peaceful garden property where you can decompress from your flight, take a dip in the pool, and enjoy a welcome dinner. Your guide will stop by this evening for a safari briefing, answering questions and building anticipation for the incredible trip ahead.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Land of Giants

After breakfast, depart Arusha at 8:00 AM and drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Upon arrival, begin your first game drive, searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and the many bird species. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife year-round, making it a prime game viewing area. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. In the late afternoon, exit the park and drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Your first full day of safari sets the tone for the adventure to come.

Day 3

Tarangire to Central Serengeti – Into the Endless Plains

After breakfast, depart for the legendary Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with stunning views of the crater rim and the Rift Valley escarpment. As you descend into the Serengeti ecosystem, the landscape opens up into endless plains. Your first game drive begins as you enter the park, immediately searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, and the incredible wildlife that calls the Serengeti home. Arrive at your lodge or camp in the central Seronera area by late afternoon. Settle in, take in the views, and prepare for three full days of exploration ahead.

Day 4

First Full Day Serengeti – Following the Great Migration

Rise before dawn for a sunrise game drive when predators are most active. The golden morning light transforms the landscape, and you'll have the best chance to spot lions on the hunt or leopards returning to their trees. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast, then head out again for more exploration. Your guide knows the best areas based on recent wildlife movements. Visit the Seronera River, a magnet for wildlife year-round, and explore the rocky kopjes where lions love to lounge. After a picnic lunch in the bush, continue game viewing as the day cools. This full day in the Serengeti is the heart of your safari experience – unhurried, immersive, and unforgettable.

Day 5

Second Full Day Serengeti – Deeper Exploration

One day shows you the Serengeti's highlights. Two days allows you to understand the place. Today you might venture further afield – perhaps toward the Western Corridor or into less-visited areas your guide knows from years of experience. You'll notice things you missed yesterday: the way a zebra foal stays close to its mother, the patience of a crocodile waiting at a crossing point, the intricate social dynamics of a hyena clan. Your guide will share insights about animal behavior and the Great Migration. If you're interested, you can add a hot air balloon safari at sunrise – drifting silently over the golden plains, followed by a champagne breakfast.

Day 6

Third Full Day Serengeti – Maximum Wildlife Time

With three full days in the Serengeti, you have the luxury of patience and the freedom to explore different areas. Today you might focus on following the migration if it's in the region, or return to a favorite spot to see how the light changes it. Your guide can take you to the Seronera Valley, the kopjes, or deeper into the riverine forests where leopards hide. For photographers, this day offers the chance to focus on composition, light, and the moments between action – gathering herds, nervous zebras, waiting crocodiles. This is your final full day on the endless plains, and you'll want to make every moment count.

Day 7

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim

After a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, begin your trip toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. The landscape changes subtly as you leave the plains – more acacia, more hills, the air growing cooler. Stop at the crater rim viewpoint, and even if you've seen a thousand photographs, nothing prepares you for the real thing. The crater stretches below you, a vast natural arena where 25,000 large animals live their lives. From here, descend to your lodge on the crater rim or in Karatu for dinner and overnight, anticipating your descent into the crater tomorrow morning.

In just a few hours, you're likely to see lions, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and hippos – often all before lunch. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. After your crater tour, you'll be transferred to Seronera Airstrip in the central Serengeti for your flight to Zanzibar. The flight takes approximately 2 hours, offering spectacular aerial views of the Serengeti plains and then the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean as you approach Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, our representative will transfer you to your beach resort for three nights of relaxation.

For the more adventurous, optional activities include snorkeling, diving, spice tours, or a visit to Stone Town. We particularly recommend a sunset dhow cruise – a traditional sailing boat that takes you along the coast as the sun sets, often with sparkling wine and snacks included. It's the epitome of relaxation and a highlight of many beach holidays. Dinner is at your leisure at one of the resort's restaurants or a beachfront café.
